What can you do today?
Do you think the problem of plastic waste is too big? Do you believe that one person can’t make a difference?
Plastic Free Seas believes that one person can make all the difference! What can you do? Be an inspiration and show others how we can quit our plastic addiction.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Drink from a reusable water bottle. Carry your purchases in a reusable bag. Eat with washable cutlery. Pick up litter off the street or the
beaches. What else can you do?
Get more people involved! What can you do at work or school and in your community?
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
Organise a mini beach cleanup. Put up a poster in your school or office reminding people to bring their own cutlery, bag, bottle, takeaway containers. Establish recycling collection points in your office or school. Write to companies or talk to managers about what changes you would like to see.
Start small but think big! Make a difference today.
Request a Take-Action Postcard!
The purpose of the postcards is for individuals to be able to engage easily and effectively with businesses to let them know that their customers would like some waste saving changes to be implemented.
Keep the cards handy so when you need them you can sign the back and give a postcard. Giving one to a restaurant manager says ‘Don’t assume I want a straw, please ask me first’. Or to the shop owner ‘This is the reason why I don’t want a plastic bag’ or to the takeaway food chain ‘I love your food but the packaging makes me sick’.
It’s easy and it starts the plastic waste conversation in their organisation.
If you live in Hong Kong you can request up to 5 of each postcard to be mailed out to you here. The facts are specific to Hong Kong's waste, please feel free to customise this idea to suit your location!
Get your Plastic Free Living Checklist!
Make a choice! Stop a habit! Make a change, do something! Everyone can do something and we want to help you on that path. Put up a simple action checklist on your fridge and mark each new thing you can incorporate into your life. Start slow, don't get overwhelmed and keep at it. There will be days when you do have to take that one plastic bag or use disposable cutlery but refusing plastic will become a habit and it won't be long before carrying a few extra bits and pieces in your bag will be automatic.
This list is not everything you can do but it is a start.
Enjoy the journey to a life less plastic!
